3 Day Pilgrimage to Temples of Tirupati
Duration : 3 Days / 2 Nights
Destination Covered : Tirupati
Day 1 - Arrival in Tirupati | Darshan at Shrines
Upon your arrival at Tirupati airport or railway station, meet a Yatra tour escort and transfer to the hotel.
A revered Hindu temple town, Tirupati is located in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh at the foot of the Tirumala Hills. A place that offers tranquility to all, Tirupati gives an insight into Hindu culture and beliefs, and pleases visitors with its serene ambience.
After relaxing for some time, proceed for darshan at Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The mahadwaram of this shrine comprises three consecutive gates: of brass, silver and gold, with the outermost being fifty feet high. This temple is the most visited temple in the world and also the richest. The main shrines here are of Lord Venkateswara, Goddess Padmavathi and Goddess Lakshmi.
Following this, take a trip to Akasa Ganga, said to cascade from the feet of Lord Vishnu. Believed to erase the sins of pilgrims, the holy water of the splendid waterfall is used to bathe the deities of shrines, and thus is considered highly auspicious.
From here, head towards another divine stream of water, Papavinasanam. Approximately 7 km from Tirupati, it lures all with its pristine waters and lush surroundings. Adjacent to this pond is a reservoir, named after the same, said to cleanse you of all sins.
Next, travel to Sri Bhu Varaha Swamy Temple. The idol of this shrine is in the form of a wild boar, considered as Lord Sri Maha Vishnu's incarnation. As per local legends, Lord Venkateswara was offered land in the Seven Hills by Sri Bhu Varaha Swamy, and thus a visit to this temple is considered important.
In the end, visit Sri Venugopala Swamy Vari Temple to seek the blessings of one of Lord Krishna’s manifestations. Standing in front of a cow, with a pot of butter lying at his feet, and a flute in his hand, the idol of Lord Krishna is awe-inspiring. You can also see the statues of Lord Krishna's consorts, Goddess Rukmini and Goddess Satyabhama, on his either side.
Following the tour, return to the hotel with a blessed mood, and enjoy a comfortable overnight stay in your room.
Day 2 - Sightseeing
After a healthy breakfast, gear up for a sightseeing tour of some other prominent shrines in Tirupati.
First, explore Sri Kalahasti Temple, situated on the banks of the gushing Swarnamukhi River. With a backdrop of Dakshina Kailasa, this temple leaves all spellbound with its ornate interiors, featuring floral patterns and miniature sculptures. The shrine, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is said to fulfil the desires of devotees.
Then, tour Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple, dedicated to the beloved companion of Lord Venkateswara, Goddess Padmavathi. Located in the holy town of Tiruchanoor, this temple is also known by the local name, Alamelumangapuram. A pilgrimage to Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple is considered incomplete without a visit to this shrine.
Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Later, retire to your hotel room for a sound sleep.
