Dolphin’s Nose
Dolphin’s Nose being as picturesque a place as the name implies. A one of a kind rock promontory that juts out over the Bay of Bengal is open to visitors from 3pm to 5pm in the evening. This is a must-visit site as one gets a fabulous view of the expanse of the sea on one side and on the other side the expanse of the spread out city below.
Simhachalam Temple

Vizag is known for its pristine beaches – Lawson’s Beach, Rishikonda and the Yarada beaches are some of the beautiful beaches that captivate visitors. The R.K. Beach is also a popular choice for visitors to take a stroll and watch the waves lick the shoreline. The waters here look very inviting but beware as the sea is not safe for swimming owing to very strong undercurrents.
Rishikonda Beach about 10 km northeast from the city is a tourist delight with its unspoilt virgin beaches. You could wade in the seas here – but it is not recommended to go deep into these waters either.

The winter season is the best time to visit Visakhapatnam when the days are pleasant and night temperatures are very comfortable. This makes sightseeing so much more comfortable and forays into the neighbouring places like Bheemlipatnam and the Araku Valley pleasurable experiences. The day time temperatures remain an amiable 30 degrees C and the night temperatures a brisk 16 degree C at the height of winter during December.
It gets stiflingly hot and humid in the summer months with temperatures hovering in the region of 40° C during the day, but because of it's location next to the sea the evening cool down with the sea breeze in the late afternoon.
The warmest months are April, May and June. The monsoons come in late June and it rains intermittently till November. October-November is the cyclone season when sometimes they can hit the coast of Vizag coming in from the Bay of Bengal.
