Yercaud Hills (Salem's Ooty)
Yercaud hills form a part of the Servarayan Range in the Eastern Ghats and are situated at an altitude of 1515 m(4,920 feet) above sea level and is a distance of 22 km from the city of Salem.
The Yercaud gets its name from the lake located at its center - in Tamil 'Yeri' means 'lake' and 'Kaadu' means 'forest'.The highest point in Yercaud is the Servarayan temple, which is situated at a height of 5326 feet. Hence the Yercaud hill area is called Shevaroy Hills.
