Kaziranga National Park lies partly in Golaghat District and partly in Nagaon District of Assam. It is the oldest park in assam covers an area of 430 Sqkms along the river Brahmaputra on the North and the KarbiAnglong hills on the South. The National Highway 37 passes through the park area and tea estates, hemmed by table-top tea bushes. One can even see the rhinos and wild elephants straying near the highway.
Kaziranga National Park a world heritage site is famous for the Great Indian one horned rhinoceros, the landscape of Kaziranga is of sheer forest, tall elephant grass, rugged reeds, marshes & shallow pools. It has been declared as National Park in 1974.
Kaziranga National Park is one of the last areas in eastern India undisturbed by a human presence. It is inhabited by the world's largest population of one-horned rhinoceroses, as well as many mammals, including tigers, elephants, panthers and bears, and thousands of birds.
The park is open from November to April. Tourists can take rides on elephants to move around the park or cruise in a boat on the Brahmaputra along the park.

How to reach Kaziranga National Park ?
By Air :
Jorhat (97 kms) is the nearest airport from Kaziranga National Park.
Tezpur(250 kms from Kaziranga National Park) is another option.
All major airlines connect Guwahati with Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hydrabad etc. Taxis are available in these cities to come to Kaziranga National Park.
By Train :
Guwahati 225Kmis the gateway to the North East India and KazirangaNationla Park and all major cities of India are well connected to Guwahati including Rajdhani Express.
Furkating Railway Station the nearest station to Kaziranga( approx. 75 km). Other nearby station areDimapur, Mariani and Jorhat. Taxis are available from all these stations to Kaziranga.

Bokakhat, Behora, Kakochang Falls, the Rhinoceros. There are also said to be a lot of tigers in the Kaziranga National Park but they are rarely spotted because of the tall elephant grass growing in the park.

Best Season: The best season of Kaziranga National Park are between November and April.
The Park is open daily from 1st November to 30th April i.e., for 6 (six) months, unless due to the rains in any exceptional year the park has to be closed earlier by the management for safety reasons.
Important information about the of Kaziranga National Park
Partially open: Park remains open partially on the months of October and May
Closed: The park remains closed June to September.
Excursions: Elephant ride and Jeep safari.
Elephant rides: Elephant rides from 1st November to 30th April.
Ride trimmings: First ride is from 5.15am to 6.15 am and Second ride is from 6.30am to 7.30am from November to April (unless census may be scheduled).
Jeep safari: Jeep Safari From 1st November to 30th April and could be possible subject to weather and road condition on the months of May & October.
Safari Timings: Jeep Safari is from 7.30am to 9.30am & 2pm to 3.30pm.
