The seventh bend is significant, since it offer the view of the slopes of the mountain and the green forests that carpet the hill.

How to reach Yelagiri from Banglore?

Banglore – Hosur Road ( NH 7) - Krishnagiri

At Krishnagiri, there's a toll-gate manned by the National Highways Authority. Spot  the second flyover (don't  take the  flyover), take the service road towards the left. This road goes to Chennai. Take the left and for the next hour or so (approx. 50 kilometers), drive on NH46. You'll come to another toll-station. Pay and drive for a few minutes you can come to the next land mark Vanni Matriculation Higher Secondary School.

Tne next sign board 'Elagiri' (36 kms) indicated by a 'U' turn arrow (beware do not to miss this sign) and that you need to keep left, take the 'U' turn, go under the bridge and on to the road towards Thirupathur. That's the road you need to get on to. Drive for about 7 kilometers (you'll see the winding road that leads up to the hills to your left). On your  left, you will spot  a big sign board 'Tamilnadu Tourism Department Welcomes You'. Turn left at this junction, there's a sign board pointing towards Yelagiri.

Punganoor Artificial Lake-cum-Park

The most popular landmark of Yelagiri Hills is the lake. Picnicking isn't allowed inside the premises. Also, there's an entry fee to be paid to enter the lake and park. Worth it, simply because it helps pass time and kids can have fun too.

Jalagamparai Waterfalls – 30 kms

The River Attaaru, flows through the valleys of Yelagiri Hills, and at the village of Jadaiyanoor, flows over to form the waterfall. Larger groups picnic out here, but because of its isolation don't expect too many facilities. Jalagamparai Waterfalls is also an ideal place to go on a day long trek and if you do decide to go there, just make sure you're well-stocked with water and food.

My Holiday Club expert advise for the traveller who wanted to visit the waterfalls

The waterfalls will be based  on the river being full and the river is dependent on substantial rainfall.

Please check with the passers by  about the water fall before you go ahead as it is 30 kms from Yelagiri. Hills hasn't any monsoon season of its own; rainfall here is mainly a 'spill-over' of rainfall in nearby Bangalore or Chennai regions. Unless there is rain here, Yelagiri Hills can largely be dry.
