Kabani is the most popular wildlife destinations of Karnataka famous for large lakes and large herds of elephants in Enbegour. It is 80 km away from Mysore and 205 km from Bangalore , and comprises the south-eastern part of Nagarole National Park. It originates in Wayanad from the confluence of the Panamaram river and Mananthavady river, and flows eastward to join theKaveri river, which empties into the Bay of Bengal.
Here one can have a voyage in the basket boat (kuttavanchi) to Gandathoor, a nearby village from Udgurcheckpost. Kabini Dam is situated between villages Bichanahalli and Bidarahalli having distance of 17 km from H.D.Kote town, Mysore district.Mananthavdyriver ,Panamaram river, Kabani and Bavali unites and flows to Bichanahalli.
The sorrounding scenes of the dam are mind blogging.Its surroundings are full of cotton, ginger and rice fields. There are many resorts on the banks of Kabani.
