According to popular belief, Shri Agasthi Rishi meditated here for a year, surviving only on air and water. Mount Kalsubai, the highest peak in Maharashtra and has an elevation of 5,400 feet is one of the most popular tourist spots. The summit also makes for the ideal trekking destination.

Ghatghar is situated at a distance of 22 km from Bhandardara and is a great viewpoint in the area. Tourists throng to this destination to enjoy a panoramic view of the Sahayadri Range.
The best time to visit Bhandardara Hill Station is from October to February when the weather is conducive to explore the outdoors.
During the summer season, from March to May, it is very hot and dry with temperature rising up to 40 °C. The summer season is followed by rainy season that ranges from June to September, when the humidity level goes up. So, it is better to avoid these two seasons for visiting Bhandardara.
