Attractions: The twisting and turning River Krishna flows in the vicinity and has the Dhom Dam built across it. There is also a lake that is formed by the backwaters of the river where one can enjoy a fun day outing with a group of friends. There are viewpoints at high altitudes from where you can observe the terrain that includes the River and the dam. Asia’s longest mountain plateau covering 95 acres and standing 4550 feet above sea level, Table Land, is the place from where one can spot the Devil’s Kitchen caves.

Activities: Owing to its ideal climate, Panchgani is the hub of strawberry farms where these fruits are not only cultivated, but also processed into jams, squashes and crushes. When in Pachgani, do remember to visit one of these several strawberry farms and buy fresh products of your choice. 10 kms from Panchgani are the Rajapuri Caves comprising of a group of four caves that can be explored in a day.

The picturesque hill station of Panchgani is a perfect place to spend time with your family or friends and is appealing at any time of the year. However, the best time to visit this place is from September through May when the monsoons have subsided.

The peak tourist season in Panchgani is the winter season from December to February, when schools are shut for the vacations and families frequent this place for longer stays and even use it as a weekend getaway from major metros of Mumbai and Pune.

The closest airport is at Pune, 98 kms from Panchgani. Pune is well connected to Mumbai, Goa and Bangalore through many well known airlines. After getting off at the Pune airport you can hire a taxi to Panchgani which will cost you about Rs 2000. Mumbai Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport is also closely located to Panchgani.

How to Reach Panchgani by Rail

The nearest railhead is at Wathar, located at distance of 45 km. The Pune railhead is well connected with major cities and is about about 100 km away from Panchgani. Get off at either of the above mentioned railway stations and hire a taxi to Panchagani, which will cost you Rs 2000.

How to Reach Panchgani by Bus

Panchgani is well connected by road to Mumbai, Pune and all other cities in Mahrashtra. Regular buses ply from Pune, Satara, Mahabaleshwar and and Mahad to Panchgani through State Road Transport System.
