Mullayanagiri
The highest peak in Karnataka is at Chikmagalur, called the Mullayanagiri. The height of this peak is close to 2000 metres. This peak is supposed to resemble a trekker’s backyard. Mullayanagiri has amazing trekking trails.
The nature walks here are among the best in the country. Located 12 km from Chikmagalur, Mullayanagiri is the highest mountain between the Himalayas and the Nilgiris. On top of the peak there is a small temple. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, hundreds of Shiva devotees trek all the way up to offer their prayers.
Kudremukh National Park

SringeriSharadaPeetha
The peetha is alternatively called the DakshinamnayaSharadaPeetham. Out of 4 Hindu Advaita Mutts, this is one among them. All the four mutts were established by AdiShankaracharya. The Mutt has a unique culture.
The Yajur Veda is followed fervently here. The head of the Mutt decides on all the activities conducted here. Also called Jagadguru, this person is given all the sole rights to make decisions. The temple is located on the banks of the Tungabhadra River in Chikmagalur district.

How to Reach Chikmagalur by Air
Chikmagalur does not have its own airport and although there are plans to develop an airport near Marle village which is again about 10km from the town; currently the airports at Mangalore, Bangalore, and Hubli are being used as alternatives. However the nearest airport is Mangalore which is 160km from the city.
How to Reach Chikmagalur by Rail
The city does not have a railway station and the nearest railway station is Kadur which is about 40km from the city and most of the hotels in Chikamagalur offer pick up services to the travellers. One can take road transportation from there.
How to Reach Chikmagalur by Bus
Very well connected by road to all the nearby towns like Koppa, Sringeri, Kadur, and Barur. In addition to that Chikmagalur is just 250km away from the Bangalore and the route is quite picturesque. You can take taxi from Mangalore to Chikmagalur. Or else you can take a deviation at Hassan, which is between Bangalore and Mangalore on the National Highway 48. From Hassan the city is just 55km away.
